Leadership/Involvement Opportunities
This program is a unique opportunity for avid readers, young artists, new writers, and anyone else to get involved in the literary world. As a preview, Ambassadors will read/request advanced reader copies of novels to be posted to the website/Kathai socials, help edit the Kathai Literary Journal, run contests, create service projects, earn volunteer hours, conduct interviews with reputable authors, and more.

Kathai Special Edition 2025 Literary Journal Submissions

If you are a young writer, artist, photographer, or creator of any kind, consider submitting to Kathai's Special Edition Literary Journal!
​
THEME: Tell us your multicultural story, through whatever interpretation you feel is best.
DEADLINE: February 24th, Midnight CST.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION PER CATEGORY:
​
Fiction Writing (Short story):
- Word limit of 1500
- Be creative!
- No profanity
- Submission must be docx. or .pdf
​
Flash Fiction:
- Word limit of 500
- Be creative!
- No profanity
- Submission must be docx. or .pdf
​
Poetry:
- Limit of 15 stanzas (can split into multiple poems, but these poems must connect. They cannot act like multiple submissions.)
- Be creative!
- No profanity
- Submission must be docx. or .pdf
​
Essay or Creative Nonfiction:
- Limit of 1500 words
- Be creative. Give us your opinion in YOUR voice.
- No profanity
- Submission must be docx. or .pdf

Opinion Editorial:
- Limit of 800 words
- Be as opinionated as possible, without losing credibility.
- No profanity
- Submission must be docx. or .pdf
​
Art (Physical):
- Clear lighting photo (try not to cast shadows)
- One submission
- No nudity or profanity
- must be .png or .jpeg
- Be creative!

Art (Digital):
- One submission
- No nudity or profanity
- must be .png or .jpeg
- Be creative!

Cinematography:
- One submission 1-2 minutes long
- No nudity or profanity
- must be mp4 (email to us at kathai.publicity@gmail.com if it doesn't send on the form)
- Be creative!

Photography:
- One submission that can contain 2-4 photos
- No nudity or profanity
- must be .png or .jpeg
- Be creative!

Combination of two or more categories:
- follow the guideline exactly if one of the categories is writing of any kind. For other categories being incorporated, we will be in touch if edits are needed for publication.
- ex. Poetry with illustrations. Poetry element would be limited to 15 stanzas, and the illustrations would be added to the creator's discretion, and then cut down if needed for publication.
